About the Peace Corps

The United States Peace Corps was established by President Kennedy in 1961. Its overall mission is three fold:

To meet the needs of other countries
To help people from other countries understand US culture
To help Americans understand other cultures

Since 1961, over 200,000 Americans have served with the Peace Corps in over 139 countries. For more information on joining the Peace Corps, click here.

About the title...

The title of my blog carries a lot of meaning for me. It is taken from lyrics to the song Lazarus (which you can hear below) by David Wimbish and the Collection. The full phrase is:

{And all that we saw

were people that had no hope

And you changed my eyes

into flaming kaleidoscopes

I saw something that

I thought for sure was fiction}

My hope is that this journey changes the way I view the world, and this blog lets you have a glimpse of what it looks like through my eyes.
